A red oak herringbone pattern in an Atlanta bedroom was refinished in a rich dark stain — one of the more technically demanding jobs we take on, given that grain runs in two opposing directions at every miter joint. Pre-conditioning the wood before staining prevented blotching, and three oil-based polyurethane coats locked in a semi-gloss finish that shows off the geometry from every angle.
